OATHALL FARM SHOP
By way of introduction, I have just started here at the farm(September) and one part of my role is to bring the shop into a new era, making fresh produce more regularly available and increasing product lines so that there is a range of farm shop items that will complement our existing meat sales.
Although the official relaunch is some time away, the shop will open regularly on a Friday afternoon and within a few weeks on Saturday mornings too.
If you have any queries please email me, visit the website or, please do come in and say hello!

Staplefield and Ansty Parish Visioning events - Everyone Welcome.
18th February 10-1 - Staplefield Village Hall
25th February 10-2 - Ansty Village Hall.
These events are part of the consultation for the Neighbourhood Plan that the Parish Council is working on. A working party has been put together with some councillors and representatives from the villages. Ben Drake and Maria Fielding are the representatives from Staplefield.
In addition to the Visioning Days, a questionnaire will be sent to every household. The questionnaire is reasonably detailed and asks lots of specific questions. The Visioning Days will supplement the information gathered in the questionnaire by enabling people to expand on their views, put forward suggestions and also receive information on how the process will work. It will be attended by representatives from the Neighbourhood Plan working party and the Parish Council. Information from the both the questionnaire and Visioning Days will be fed in to the plan
The Neighbourhood Plan is an opportunity to influence development and land use in the area, although there are limitations on what it can achieve. For example, it has to comply with national planning policy and also the strategic policies in the MSDC District Plan. It cannot be used to prevent development that is included in the District Plan, but it can be used to influence use and development of land and also to identify and prioritise infrastructure such as play parks, schools, sports pitches etc.

LONDON TO BRIGHTON 2011
We just wanted to let you know that 2nd event to raise money for Angus Rowland FMN fund within Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research which took place on Sunday 6th November was a great success raising a grand total of £924.35.
£710.44 was raised by a group of friends and family who cooked fantastic bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches, burgers and served cake and hot drinks to warm the spectators that turned out to watch the cars on the London to Brighton veteran car run as they drove through Staplefield. The crowd were very generous giving a further £213.91 to a bucket collection that went around Staplefield common.
This brings the total raised on Angus page to £13 825.35
Follow the link for some great photos taken by James Rowland, Jonathan's brother.
Thank you to Tim and Alison who did a fantastic job planning and organising the event and for all the people who turned up to help, put up marquees, shopping, cooking, baking, shaking buckets, fetching and carrying and putting everything away at the end.
It is difficult to find words to thank you all for everything you do for us as a family and support our fundraising. It helps us to keep Angus memory alive and feel that perhaps we can make a difference to other families who are faced with this devastating illness
Thank you all.
Elizabeth, Jonathan and Edward

Make a date to donate
We have a particular interest in the issue of blood donation, as our son Angus needed 20 pints of blood during his treatment for leukaemia. We tend to think of blood being used in operations and to replace blood lost in accidents etc, but in fact many cancer patients need blood transfusions too as their treatment reduces their ability to produce enough blood. The NHS needs 7,000 voluntary donations of blood daily and national blood stocks are presently 8 to 9 days.
However new data from NHS Blood and Transplant Service highlights an alarming generation gap amongst regular blood donors. Only 14% of regular donors are aged under thirty, more than two thirds of regular donors are over the age of forty, and 200,000 donors drop off the register each year.
First time donors should be aged between 17‐65, weighing at least 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health. In addition the first time you donate blood you are asked if you would like to be on the bone marrow register. Donating bone marrow offers the opportunity of cure for a number of blood cancers. A match could not be found for Angus in the UK so we would have had to look worldwide.
If you would like to donate blood clinics take place in Haywards Heath Clair Hall every other month.
Appointments can be made by calling 0300 123 2323 or booking online at www.blood.co.uk
Free tea and biscuits are on offer.
