Tuesday morning in Staplefield. The cold temperatures have preserved Saturday night's snow.

No end in sight to the chilly weather.
There is a chance that snow could return at the weekend in a replay of
last weekend's scenario. Watch this space.

Check the 'Village Noticeboard' page for details of the Parish Plan meetings

Monthly temperature graph

Nothing outstanding for last month-
The high (12.2c) was high, but not the highest of recent years
The average (6.0c) was towards the high end...
As was the min (-2.2c) with no really low temps recorded during the month.

This graph below shows autumn rainfall. As you can see, it has been a very dry one this year
and December has done little to make up for it. The 3-yr moving average line shows that
we've been here before with 3 dry autumns in 2003,4 & 5. These years were also followed
by fairly dry winters.

Staplefield Anorak is a privately run not-for-profit website.

Occasional attempts are made to forecast the weather for certain local events. It should be noted that my only qualification for this is a slightly unhealthy interest in the weather, and in rain in particular.

Actual weather is reported every 10 minutes from an automatic Davis Weatherstation in my garden in Staplefield. It is not sited very scientifically and is sheltered from the west and northwest, which leads to wind reports which may not represent those experienced elsewhere in the village. The garden is approximately 300ft (91m) above sea level.
Other readings should be fairly accurate, although they should not be relied on for anything more than general interest.

Other pages on the website depict recent weather graphically, the level of water in my well (which may give some indication of groundwater levels), a photographs page, which is updated every few days, and a village noticeboard where any items of local interest can be posted.

I always welcome feedback, so please use the contact me link if you would like anything added, or removed, from the site, or to send in any local photograph. I also welcome comments, praise, quotes and weather-related jokes, funny or not.
